It’s a story about James and Alyssa who are 17years old and have no clue what’s happening in their lives. James is convinced that he is a psychopath and he is convinced that it’s time to stop killing animals and kill something bigger. He also has a target in his mind- Alyssa who wants to find her lost father who left home when she was just a child.

Available on Netflix, It’s one of the best original content produced by Netflix and has only season 1. Season 2 is already being shot without any release date.

9. Ozark

Ozark is a must watch if you like crime drama genre like Breaking Bad. The show is often compared to Breaking Bad as the main characters of both the series are trying to protect their family without realizing they are doing exactly the opposite.

But I can assure you that it’s nothing like Breaking Bad and you can just watch the series to see why Jason Bateman is one of the best actors working in the Industry right now.

It’s a story of Mary Byrde (Jason Bateman) who is on the run after a money laundering scheme goes wrong and he moves from Chicago to Missouri’s Lake of the Ozark with his family.

8. Cobra Kai

Only a series that I have seen which is originally produced by YouTube and I can assure you, it’s brilliant, why? Because it does the impossible thing of making you care about Johnny Lawrence.

The story picks up 34 years later after the original events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament. Johnny Lawrence who is seeking redemption after all these years ends up teaching a lot of valuable life lessons. I was drawn to watch Cobra Kai because of the original character of the first movie but soon I also started caring about the new character. I think a lot of writers can learn from the series writers a lot on how exactly to reboot and remake old movies or TV shows.

7. Godless

Godless is one of the best western series I have ever seen and if you remotely like western stories, this is certainly for you. It’s a limited series with a gripping story that gets wrapped up within 7 episodes.

The show is absolutely phenomenal in its detail authenticity with dazzling costume design and set. Created, written and directed by Scott Frank with Steven Soderbergh as an executive producer.

The show has feminist bent in their storytelling with casting such as Jeff Daniels, Michelle Dockery, Jack O’Connell, and Merritt Wever.

6. The Terror

The Terror is based on the novel by Dan Simmons with the same name and is a fictionalized story of a lost expedition to the Arctic in an attempt to locate the Northwest Passage. The expedition vanished with the most technologically advanced ships of that era, the HMS Terror and HMS Erebus and all the members of both the ships were never seen again.

The series produced by Ridley Scott with a fantastic cast such as Jared Harris, Ciaran Hinds, and Tobias Menzies. It’s the show where you see the brilliance of Jared Harris as Captain Crozier.

The show also has some supernatural elements giving it a twist and making it unique traditional periodic supernatural drama. The show has only one season with 10 episodes and is available on Prime Videos.

5. Counterpart

Counterpart gave us one of the best performances by J. K Simmons who I totally thought would at least get an Emmy nomination, but nothing happened. Counterpart still for me is one of the most underrated series as I feel that story has spy drama thrill, a twisted storyline with cold war allegory and deeply conflicted and complicated character.

The story is about two cloned parallel world which was discovered accidentally and the other world is accessible only through cellar in UN agency. The main focus of the series isn’t explaining how this works but explaining how the society and people involved in keeping two cloned parallel dimension secret work together, hence giving us a spy thriller rather than science fiction.

The story is created by Justin Marks and has two seasons with every 10 episodes. To my surprise, the series has been canceled for next season.

4. Dark

Dark has been compared to Stranger Things as in both the series have kids gone missing, both of are set in 1980’s,  Stranger Things has Hawkins Lab and Dark has Nuclear Power plant,  and both the series have some unexplained singularities. Stranger Things can be viewed and enjoyed by adults and kid alike, Dark seems to be more of a mature and adult content as the story is darker compared to Stranger Things.

Dark

The real challenge in the series is to keep track of all the characters from the 1st episode and if you are not paying enough attention, you might miss out, who is who? And once if you have passed this hurdle, the story sucks you in as the story is being told in three different times with as the same characters jumps from one time to another, giving you hell of ride.

Time twisting and time bending, this German mystery thriller says that “everything is connected”. This hold true for the story as the characters in the story are somehow related with each other in their past, present or the future. It’s a must watch for anyone who like time travelling or just thriller in general.

3. Homecoming

Homecoming was real pleasant surprise for me as it turns out to be irresistible mystery suspense drama with very well thought and written characters. I was also happy to see Julia Roberts on the TV for the very first time.

Courtsey- FB

Homecoming refers to a treatment facility for military veterans to transition into civilian life and where Julia Roberts’s character is a psychologist name Heidi Bergman. The story is beautifully narrated in present and past. I don’t want to spoil the story as the mystery was half of the reason I was glued to Homecoming.

Based on podcast written by Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg, the series is directed by (Mr. Robot’s fame) Sam Esmail and is one of the best series available for all Prime amazon subscribers. A true must watch for all.

2. Sharp Objects

It’s another limited series by HBO which took my breath away for its outstanding splendor tranquility with dark thriller and amazing Amy Adams and other cast.

Courtsey- FB

Casting in fact is superb, as each actor is in their characters skin instantly particularly the women’s who have done some fierce acting like Patricia Clarkson and Eliza Scanlen. Both of them have done exceptionally well in portraying Adora Crellin and Amma Crellin respectively.

You might find the speed of the show bit slow, in the first few episodes.  But as you go with the story into bit deeper, the plot starts to unravel giving you a gorgeous gothic masterpiece. Mystery keeps you engaging but it’s the interaction between characters that gives you a real story. No matter what you genre is it’s a must watch for everyone without miss.

Legion

When I first started watching this show, I had emotions like, what? I don’t understand it! OMG this show!  Again What? I like this song! What?

With so many reactions with only first episode of the show, I can assure you that Legion is most mind-bending, mind-blowing and most visually brilliant comic show on TV with one of the best Pilot episodes ever. When pilot of the series gives you a mind F*%k, imagine what comes next?

I got to see a Bollywood dance number in the pilot show, and all of this is happening inside David’s brain and it’s a mind trip and I feel that one episode of Legion is better than combine all X- Men movies together.

Legion has redefined the genre and how we look at them as the show departure from the traditional superhero conceits. Its exhilarating delight to see Legion, even though you don’t like comic books in general. It’s fascinating intellectual and psychological take on superhero mythos. It’s a must and must watch for all
